Sometimes life gets in the way of crafting!

Sorry I don't have a new project to post yet.  Sometimes life gets in the way of crafting.  I take care of my elderly Mom with severe Alzheimer's disease.  She hasn't been sleeping at night only during the day, and because I am at work during the day, I haven't been able to change her schedule. Well to make a long story shorter, I asked her Dr to prescribe a sleeping pill for her, he felt a second anti depressant with a side effect of drowsiness would be better.  Well...  It made the dementia about 100 times worse over the past several days!  I think I got a total of 7 hours sleep in three days!  Needless to say, I have stopped that particular drug and am getting up every few hours at night to check on her and letting her sleep during the day until I can get her Dr to prescribe a drug that helps her sleep but doesn't worsen the Alzheimer's.  So hopefully I will have a small project or two sometime during the week.

I sure can relate to your Mom and her Alzheimer's. We just had to put Ken's mother in the nursing home because of her combativeness with her care. She also did the late sleeping and late bedtime. We lived right next door to her and her husband. It was wearing her husband out. I tired to help as much as I could but because my back couldn't take much.. it was not enough. Take care of yourself. I don't know if you have any kind of program, but here TennCare help out and gave her some nurse aide coverage.

I can relate also as we went through this with my husband's Grandmother. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I love your two "babies" (as I call mine).I also love their names. I have been following your blog for a bit now and you are a very talented lady. Just craft when you can to relieve some of your stress. Bless you

Sorry to hear about your Mom's problems sleeping. Unfortunately, this is a common problem we encountered with my Mom's Alzheimers, and we were lucky that Ambien worked for her...for awhile. I'll pray for you & your hubby since I know all too well how trying this is to take care of someone in this state. I moved to CO before my mom was diagnosed, so it was hard to be here while she was in Ohio especially since she stopped talking several years before she was diagnosed. When I was young, I helped take care of my grandma who also had AD (called hardening of the arteries then), and then 20 years later my Mom had to fly to California when her brother's AD progressed to the point that they had to take his keys away. I'm so glad that you have a hobby to help release some of the steam that builds up so easily trying to help someone with this disease. My sister's BP would skyrocket when mom would do something unusual because she wanted to try to control all aspects of the disease. Who cares if she wanted to eat a pie out of the pieplate instead of waiting to have it put on a plate?

I'm so glad you stopped by my blog from the Outlawz. It's wonderful to meet up with so many talented people who share our papercrafting passions as well as so many life issues.
